AFRICAN AIRLINES IN THE ERA OF LIBERALISATION

The air transport industry in Africa is undergoing dynamic changes brought about by the ongoing liberalisation programme on the continent.  The industry is experiencing intense competition from mega carriers from outside the continent.  Deregulation of the industry has resulted in a number of airline liquidations as well as the emergence of several private airlines largely operating domestic and regional services.

This book is a direct response to the ever-increasing need for a better and deeper understanding of the African airline industry by various stakeholders.

This book is written for the various stakeholders who need to keep up to date with the rapid changes in the African airline industry.  These stakeholders include airline personnel from inside and outside Africa, board of directors, governments, suppliers of goods and services to African airlines (aircraft, engine and systems manufacturers, spares suppliers and consultants), travel agents and the travelling public, among others.  The book has a comprehensive wealth of information and insights on the challenges and opportunities facing African airlines, which are not available anywhere else.  Nearly all of us will have a role to play if we have an interest in seeing the success of the African airline industry.
