Overview
Distance learning or eLearning is designed for aviation personnel who need to acquire expertise in a certain area but may not have the time to attend formal AFRAA classroom-based courses. The essence of Distance Learning is on flexibility. Distance learning is one way to acquire credits towards the attainment of the AFRAA Diploma.
Structure/Format
There are three options for undertaking the specified courses for Distance Learning as follows:
Option 1: Project
This option allows a student to undertake a project relevant to their work area and which should benefit their organisation as agreed with the Facilitator/Instructor.
Option 2: Assignment
The student will be given assignments by the Instructor/Facilitator based on the agreed course material or book on the particular subject. Click here for more information on recommended books.
Option 3: Examination
The student can find their own course notes or attend in company or relevant course at local institutions. The student can then sit for an examination at an approved examination centre acceptable to AFRAA. Examinations will be held in May and November each year. Applications to sit for an examination should reach AFRAA at least six weeks before the examination date. Examination scripts to be posted via secure expedited mail.
Required Materials
Textbooks are recommended (contact AFRAA for details), but suitable alternatives may be used. All the required books can be sourced from www.Amazon.com or through www.afraa.org.
