The African Airlines Association (AFRAA) and four leading MRO service providers—Ethiopian MRO, Egyptian Maintenance & Engineering, Kenya Airways MRO, and South African Airways Technical are pleased to announce the launch of the African MRO Conference.

The premier annual conference and exhibition is dedicated to advancing Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) services across the African aviation sector. The event aims to establish an MRO marketplace, a dedicated platform for MRO leaders, engineering and maintenance managers, and industry experts to address strategic challenges, explore emerging technologies, and foster partnerships that enhance Africa’s MRO capabilities.

The conference allows stakeholders and industry experts to come together to discuss concerns, find solutions, and identify opportunities.

MRO AFRICA targets C-level staff members of African air operators responsible for engineering, maintenance, and technical training. It also seeks to engage subject matter experts in MRO services on both the African and international levels.

Engineering and maintenance account for the third-highest operational costs for African airlines. MRO operations improve the safety of air transport services. The benefits for operators are twofold:

  • Active interactions between operators and MRO service providers will help reduce airline operating costs and
Facilitate practical support for operators who fulfil their continuous airworthiness responsibilities.
The MROs will benefit from engagement opportunities with potential customers during conference talks and exhibition conversations. The participants’ discovery of the hosting MRO’s facilities enhances its appeal. Such tours may stimulate operators’ interest or prompt the outsourcing business of international MROs.
  • OEMs and vendors will also benefit, as the events will provide opportunities for:
Engagement of customers and air operators in safely performing their continuous airworthiness responsibilities, facilitating the safe and reliable provision of air transport services.
  •  Collaboration among MROs to enhance the delivery of dependable maintenance services to African airlines, thereby increasing the daily utilization of small fleet aircraft while meeting rigorous regulations.

AFRAA and its member airlines will benefit from a forum that addresses closely linked activities, maintenance cost optimization, continuous airworthiness, safety, and training.
